Jeremiah O'Brien

Meet Jeremiah O'Brien

Jeremiah thinks his Grandpa would be proud to see that he is carrying on the family tradition. Like many other fishermen, Jeremiah hails from a fishing family. Until recently, he was joined on the back deck with this wife Trudi who fished with him for 14 years. An injury forced Trudi to remain behind on the shore. Over the years Jeremiah has fished for just about everything: Rockcod, halibut, sea bass, salmon, shark, swordfish, abalone, sea urchins and albacore.

Now he is limited to salmon, swordfish, shark and albacore as his former fisheries have been closed or very heavily restricted.

Both Jeremiah and Trudi have been extremely active in fish politics, attending meeting at the expense of good fishing days. They both have and continue to serve on a variety councils and organizations related to fishing. Jeremiah often is a public spokesman for the Morro Bay Fleet, fighting for fishing rights for all.

Look for the F/V Aguero when you are in Morro Bay.
