Tom Roff

Meet Tom Roff

Tom Roff hails from a family of SLO County farmers and today he is a commercial fisherman. As Tom puts it," Same BS only a different set of rules." Tom got his start in fishing when he was a student at San Diego City College. He started fishing to make money for his schooling, pretty soon he found out he was making more money than his professors.

After he received his AA degree he quit school to become a full time fisherman, 36 years later he is still fishing with his partner Diane.

Tom has fished for abalone, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, black gills, gill netted for rockfish and halibut. Today he and Diane fish for Salmon, Supreme California Swordfish, Opah, Albacore, Thresher and Mako Shark. Tom and Diane sell to various wholesalers up and down the coast as well as off their boat, F/V Diane Susan.

In his spare time, Tom sits on a number of fishing related committees. For fun he enjoys photography, and making the furniture for he and Diane's house in the hills.

Look for the F/V Diane Susan in a slip at the foot of Beach St. in Morro Bay California to buy fresh fish right off the boat.
